Frequently asked questions

How this project was born, where its information comes from and how to get the most out of it. Can’t find your answer? Write to us: collaboration and suggestions are always open.

What is dimensionapple.com?

An independent website about the history and catalogue of Apple products: model-by-model sheets with specifications, launch, marketing and known issues; a timeline from 1976; the evolution of every family; a comparator; buying guides; trivia; news; and the iMuseo, with photos of our own collection. All in seven languages. It is an independent project, not affiliated with Apple Inc.

How did the project start?

It grew out of the private Apple collection of Genaro Fragueiro, its founder. What began as pieces gathered with care over the years became the idea of organising and telling them in an open catalogue anyone can browse. Genaro built the site with the help of Claude, an AI assistant, and today he maintains and expands it piece by piece.

How is the site organised?
  • Home: the full catalogue, with search and filters by family and year.
  • Sheets: one per model, with specs, history, marketing and issues.
  • Evolution by family: how each line has changed, generation by generation.
  • Compare: several models side by side to see what changes.
  • iPhone index: every iPhone in order, with notes on country variants.
  • Trivia: anecdotes and stories from the Apple world.
  • iMuseo: real photos of the collection the project grew from.
  • News: what’s happening at Apple.
  • Buying help and iPhone advisor: step-by-step recommendations for your case.
Where does the information come from?

Every sheet lists its sources one by one on the Sources used page. Technical data and dates are checked against Apple documentation and public references; guide prices come only from apple.com/es and backmarket.es, always with source and date; photos come from Wikimedia Commons, under a free licence with visible attribution on the sheet; and generated images are always labelled “Model illustration”, never presented as photos.

How do I use the main features?
  • Search: type in the search box on the home page and the catalogue filters instantly.
  • Filters: tap a family or a year to see just that part.
  • Compare: open the Comparator and pick the models; you’ll see their differences side by side.
  • Favourites: tap “Save” on any sheet. They’re stored only on your device: no accounts, no sign-ups.
  • Install the site as an app: on iPhone, Safari → Share → “Add to Home Screen”; on Android, Chrome menu → “Install app”. No app stores.
  • Languages: the site exists in Spanish, English, French, German, Russian, Chinese and Arabic, and every section keeps the language you choose.
How can I collaborate?

Collaboration lines are open: write to us from the Contact page or at admin@dimensionapple.com. We especially value corrections with their source, photos of models we don’t have yet (under a licence that allows publishing), translation improvements in any of the seven languages and stories from fellow collectors. We read and reply to every message.

I have a suggestion or an improvement — where do I send it?

This site improves thanks to the people who use it. If you have an idea, spot an error or miss something, send it from Contact or to admin@dimensionapple.com. We review every suggestion and those that fit are added in the next updates; recent changes are announced on the home page itself.

Main sources and references

A selection of the references behind the catalogue, grouped by product family, with what each one contributes. It is not a complete list and does not cover every sheet: it is the essentials, not the project’s recipe. The product-by-product detail, where recorded, is on Sources used (prices checked 28-10-2026; new entries: 29-10-2026).

What’s new on the site

Changelog of dimensionapple.com improvements. Apple news lives in News; this is the record of changes to the site itself.

v43 2026-10-31

  • New Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page in all seven languages: what dimensionapple is, how the project started, where the information comes from, how to use each feature, how to collaborate, and the selection of main sources and references by product family.
  • The site changelog moves to the FAQ page; the previous address (/novedades/) now redirects to that section.
  • The footer contact email is now a direct link (admin@dimensionapple.com) on every page.
  • Search indexing: 2,122 URLs submitted to Bing via IndexNow and indexing of the home page requested in Bing Webmaster Tools (requests registered; indexing not yet confirmed). The Google Search Console review is still pending access.

v42 2026-10-30

  • 21 new product pages covering 2018 to 2026, each in all seven languages: Mac Pro (2019) and Pro Display XDR, Mac Studio (2023, 2025 and M5), Mac mini (M2), MacBook Air (M3) and MacBook Pro (M4), Studio Display (2026) and Studio Display XDR, Apple Pencil (2nd gen, USB-C and Pro), Apple TV 4K (2nd and 3rd gen), HomePod mini 2, AirTag (2nd gen), Apple Watch SE 3 and Ultra 3, Vision Pro (M5) and AirPods Max 2.
  • Nine of the new models gain a verified-license photo with visible credit; the rest keep an honest placeholder while a usable photo is found.
  • The main page timeline now lists the new models in their year, and the home page names the site's seven languages.
  • New Accessories family: 8 Magic line pages (Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad and Magic Keyboard, from 2009 to the 2024 USB-C generation), with their own block in the home index and their place in the Evolution tree.

v41 2026-10-30

  • New MacBook Neo (2026) and MacBook Air (M5) (2026) product pages in all seven languages: photos, specs, official sources, and their place on the home page, the comparison tool and the sitemap.
  • The buying advisor and the comparison tool now include 20 iPhone, iPad and Mac links to Amazon with the affiliate tag and a paid-link label; guide prices state their verification date and that they are not Amazon prices.

v40 2026-10-30

  • The Trivia page adds a new section, "Steve Jobs in 26 anecdotes", in all seven languages: stories organized by era in cards, each with its cited source and labels distinguishing verified facts, attributed accounts and clarified legends.

v39 2026-10-30

  • Fixed the language selector inside a news article: it opens the same article in the chosen language.
  • The home and Trivia quick-access bars now link to News (formerly What's new) in all seven languages.

v38 2026-10-30

  • Fixed language switching from the Settings selector on news pages: it works again in all seven languages.
  • Fixed text direction (right to left) on the Arabic news pages.
  • Refined buying advisor: neutral fact labels with official data, an indicative-price notice and official battery hours for 23 iPhones.

v37 2026-10-29

  • Twenty-two product pages expanded in all seven languages: five Apple Watch models (Series 6, Series 7, Series 8, Series 9 and the 2022 Ultra) and seventeen models from earlier batches (classic Macintosh II, Quadra, LC and PowerBook, Watch Series 2, 4, 5 and SE, and iPad Air 2), with history, trivia and verified sources.
  • Four pages gain photos with a verified license: PowerBook 520c, iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2015) —its back photo, which a script error kept from showing, is fixed as well—, a new front photo of the iPad mini 3 and the iPhone 8 Plus back photo, which the page never showed because of a wrong hold in the original batch. Four more pages (Watch Series 1, MessagePad 110, PowerBook 145b and 160) get the standard slot ready for a future verified photo. The credits file is unified at 239 entries and the sitemap refreshes modification dates.

v36 2026-10-29

  • The Curiosities page gains a new editorial section: the 2005 Stanford speech with the official embedded video and a summary, the teams that built the Macintosh and the iPhone, verified business anecdotes (legends labeled as such) and an annotated bibliography of books about Jobs and Apple. The Sources page adds a “Stories and curiosities” block with every reference. The sitemap refreshes the modification dates of these pages.

v35 2026-10-29

  • The XML sitemap now lists the four new additions (iMac 24″ M1, MacBook Air M2, Studio Display and Apple Watch SE 2), the central Sources page and refreshed modification dates for the expanded entries; title, description, canonical URL and interlanguage (hreflang) links verified on the new entries.

v34 2026-10-29

  • Four more thin product pages are now expanded with verified data in all 7 languages: iPad (10th gen, 2022), iPad Pro (M1, 2021), Macintosh IIx (1988) and Macintosh Portable (1989), with specs from Apple Support and EveryMac, sourced launch dates and prices, and a verified free-license photo for the iPad 10 and the Macintosh IIx.
  • Review fixes: the Macintosh II now clarifies that the 1.44 MB FDHD floppy arrived as a later upgrade kit (with IIx ROMs), not standard; and the Macintosh IIx RAM figure is corrected (1-4 MB standard, up to 128 MB with MODE32, per EveryMac).
  • The previous batch's new pages now list only Mac-classified products under 'More from this family', and the iMac 24″ (M1) teardown links directly to the iFixit teardown instead of a composite label.
  • The central Sources page grows to 66 products in all 7 languages, with verified URLs for the new and expanded pages and their photo attributions.
  • Reclassification in the comparator and family evolution: the Apple I, Apple II/II+/IIe/IIc/IIGS, Apple III/III+, Lisa (1976-1986) and the Studio Display no longer appear inside the Mac family; they move to the peripherals and other equipment category, consistent with their actual type. The comparator still lists them the same way.
  • The comparator now carries the specs already verified in the new and expanded pages (iMac M1, MacBook Air M2, Studio Display, Watch SE 2, iPad 10, iPad Pro M1, Macintosh IIx and Portable): display, ports, weight, dimensions, launch and price no longer show as "no data"; the IIx RAM in the comparator reflects the correction (1-4 MB, 128 MB with MODE32). Family evolution now loads the available real photos (it showed gaps before).
  • Four more compact classics are expanded with verified data in all 7 languages: Macintosh Plus (1986), Macintosh SE (1987), Macintosh SE/30 (1989) and Macintosh Classic (1990), with ROM, dimensions, weight and OS per EveryMac, end-of-production dates and sourced US launch prices; those rows also reach the comparator.
  • Data coherence: Macintosh II RAM now follows EveryMac (1 or 4 MB stock; 8 MB with the original ROM; 128 MB with MODE32) and the Macintosh Plus price is unified (about $2,600; $2,599 per EveryMac); detailed sources for the expanded classics and the newly photographed pages are centralized on the Sources page.

v33 2026-10-29

  • Four products missing from the catalog get full pages in all 7 languages: iMac 24″ (M1, 2021), MacBook Air (M2, 2022), Studio Display (2022) and Apple Watch SE (2nd gen, 2022), with specs verified against Apple Support, launch dates and prices from Apple Newsroom press releases, launch/marketing/flaws sections, and a real photo under a free license with attribution.
  • Eight very thin pages are expanded with verified data: iPad (7th, 8th and 9th gen), iPad Air (3rd gen), iPad Pro 9.7″, Apple IIc, Macintosh II and Macintosh LC. Each adds spec rows, launch and marketing texts with source and date, and the US launch price cited from Apple Newsroom. Fix: the Macintosh II shipped with 1–8 MB of RAM as standard (not 1–20 MB), per EveryMac.
  • Seven products get a real photo under a free license (iPad 7th and 9th gen, iPad Pro 9.7″, iMac M1, MacBook Air M2, Studio Display and Apple Watch SE 2). No authorized image of the exact iPad 8th gen or iPad Air 3rd gen model was found.

v32 2026-10-29

  • Complete index expanded: 18 product pages that existed but were not listed now appear in their section (Macintosh Plus, SE/30, Classic, Power Mac G4 Cube, iMac G4 15″, iPhone 6s Plus and XS Max, Apple Watch Series 1, iPad mini 2/3/4, iPad 5th and 6th gen, iPad Pro 10.5″ and 12.9″ 2nd gen, Apple TV 2nd, 3rd and 4th gen). The home filter also stops grouping the Apple I, Apple II, Lisa and 1976–1986 peripherals as “Mac”: they move to their own “1976–1986” filter.

v31 2026-10-28

  • Complete index fixed: Mac models and MessagePads no longer appear under “iPhone”. New “Newton” section for the MessagePads, and the first section is now “1976–1986”, matching its contents. The home timeline also stops filtering MessagePads as Mac.

v30 2026-10-28

  • The 50 product pages of the 2022-2026 range add verified specs (IP rating, MagSafe, fast charging, Wi-Fi, 5G and battery life) with a link to Apple's official source and check date.
  • Indicative euro prices on those pages: new (apple.com) for 14 current models and Apple Certified Refurbished for 11, always with configuration, source and date; no made-up equivalences. Fixed Mac prices taken from recycled pages.
  • Nine models get real photos under free licenses with visible attribution; no authorized image of the exact AirPods 5 or iPad Air M4 model was found.
  • New «Sources used» page, linked in the footer of every language home page, listing data, price and image sources product by product.
  • Compare and picker r48: product photos, new verified specs, × button to remove models and sticky header. 404 page now also in German and Arabic.

v29 2026-10-27

  • Rebuilt compare tool (r46): Apple-style design, model switching without reloading, newest-first order and indicative price with source and date.

v28 2026-10-26

  • New phone button next to your account: install the website as an app on iPhone (Safari, Share) and Android (Chrome, menu), no app stores.
  • The iPhone index now warns that iPhones are not identical in every country (SIM/eSIM, bands and carrier lock), with links to Apple documentation.
  • The main home page now links directly to the iPhone index.

v27 2026-10-25

  • The «iPhone Wealth Index» adds five cities: Santiago, Panama City, New Delhi, Johannesburg and Lagos, each with its source and check date.
  • Paris and Rome now show a price (Apple official: €1,479 and €1,489).
  • The globe no longer looks cut when rotated: the outline is always drawn on top of the map and labels stay inside the canvas.

v26 2026-10-25

  • Home page restored: the full catalog listing is back, now right after «Most valued».
  • Removed the «Surprise me» button from the search; «On this day» stays.
  • Restored the catalog filters (year, decade, chip, era and status) and the «on sale» badge, which were not showing.
  • The public contact email is now admin@dimensionapple.com (previously a personal Gmail).

v25 2026-10-25

  • New «iPhone Wealth Index»: an interactive globe with the price of the iPhone 18 Pro 256 GB in 14 world cities and a comparison chart. Every price carries its source and check date; where no verified figure exists yet, it says «not available».
  • Prices update from the panel with a button that queries only reuse-licensed sources; Madrid, Paris and Rome are maintained by hand.

v24 2026-10-25

  • Community on all 840 product pages: 1-to-5 star ratings with or without an account, and comments that go live only after review (no advertising allowed).
  • Homepage now shows «Top rated» and «Most commented».
  • User account with registration and sign-in from the silhouette at the top right; simple CAPTCHA on registration and comments.
  • Contact and advertising forms with no third-party services: messages go straight to the site owner.

v23 2026-10-24

  • Redesigned homepage: cleaner look, prominent search, gray-pill quick links and a new «Milestones» section.
  • Powerful catalog filters: by year or year range, decade, chip family, era (Jobs I, without Jobs, Jobs II, Cook) and status (on sale, not in current store, concept), with an «On sale» badge on current products.
  • New Trivia page in all five languages, with catalog numbers and transparent methodology (no evidence-free rankings).
  • Honest copy: no more promises of complete photos or history; «on sale» status verified against apple.com and everymac.com on Oct 24, 2026.

v22 2026-10-24

  • Product compare: up to 3 models side by side (⇄ button on each card or the Compare page).
  • Evolution-by-family pages: iPhone, Mac, iPad, Watch, Audio, Home, iPod, Vision and Future.
  • Search autocomplete, «Surprise me» button and «On this day».
  • Every page now shows its update date; new What's new page.

v21 2026-10-24

  • Five review fixes: real SVG favicon, deduplicated sitemap (701 URLs), no duplicate iPad Air in search, 24 share images (og:image) and correct gallery captions.

v20 2026-10-24

  • iPad Air (2013) page with an own photo (A1474) and iMuseo credit.
  • iPhone 7 Plus (2016) page.

  • iPhone (1st gen, 2007) page with own photos.
  • New iMuseo section: photos of the personal collection.

v13–v18 2026-10-24

  • Big expansion: 18 pre-1984 pages (Apple I, Apple II, Lisa, ImageWriter…), eMac, iMac G5, Mac mini, Macintosh SE, iPhone 8 Plus, the 8 future concepts and the first own photos.
