Apple lists Profile Manager, Open Directory and Xsan as included in Server 5.7.1 through 5.11.1. For 5.7.1 it distinguishes removed services, such as DNS, VPN, mail and calendars, from removed graphical tools, including DHCP, firewall and website tools. This does not mean all underlying components disappeared from macOS.

The introduction to Apple's migration guide describes a shift toward managing computers, devices and storage. It distinguishes services hidden in new installations from spring 2018 and migration of many services for new installations and upgrades from autumn. The consulted edition is version 1.3 from March 2021, not a document frozen at launch.

This change in scope must not be confused with the earlier move of files, caching and Time Machine into High Sierra itself. Apple documents those services as migrated into the operating system, while others leave the Server package. This entry covers 5.7.1 without inventing a complete update list or an exact date lacking a verified original.
