macOS 15 Sequoia

Apple previewed Sequoia on June 10, 2024, and released the free update on September 16. Window management added tiling by dragging windows to screen edges and new shortcuts. Passwords gathered passwords, passkeys, and other credentials in a dedicated app; Safari updated Reader and added Distraction Control.

iPhone Mirroring let users control their phone from the Mac while it stayed locked. It required a Mac with Apple silicon or a T2 chip, an iPhone with iOS 18, and the same account with two-factor authentication, among other conditions. A material regional limit remains: Apple documentation checked on November 7, 2026, still says it is unavailable in the European Union. It is not presented as a universal feature.

Apple Intelligence did not arrive with every feature on Sequoia's launch day. Apple confirmed its first set on October 28, 2024, with macOS 15.1, on Macs with M1 or later and with Siri and device language set to U.S. English. Other features and languages would follow. That historical condition does not describe today's available languages or make a Sequoia-compatible Intel Mac compatible with Apple Intelligence.
