visionOS 1

Apple introduced visionOS with Vision Pro on June 5, 2023. On January 8, 2024, it announced US hardware availability for February 2 and documented store arrival that day. This is not a worldwide date or forced into a visionOS 1.0 release: Apple's register already dates 1.0.2 to January 31.

At store arrival Apple claimed more than a million compatible iOS and iPadOS apps and over 600 new experiences. These are categories and figures attributed to February's announcement, not our own native-app count or compatibility with the entire App Store. Persona, the user's video-call representation, was announced in beta.

Apple described VoiceOver, Zoom and alternative controls including tracking with one dominant eye. The 1.0.2 document distinguishes the fix included in developer-only 1.0.1 from direct updates from 1.0. Later 1.x dates retain row-level sources, without inventing a 1.0 day or treating later document revisions as new releases.
