Announcement and configurations
Apple announced the iMac update on June 5, 2017, with orders that day and Apple Store sales scheduled from June 7. The 27-inch Retina 5K had three quad-core Core i5 bases: 3.4 GHz with 4 GB Radeon Pro 570; 3.5 GHz with 4 GB Pro 575; and 3.8 GHz with 8 GB Pro 580. It is not the separately introduced iMac Pro.
Display and connections
All three bases included 8 GB 2400 MHz DDR4 and four user-accessible slots. The 3.4 and 3.5 GHz models had a 1 TB Fusion Drive; the 3.8 GHz model had a 2 TB Fusion Drive. The 5120 × 2880 display supported one billion colors, 500 nits and P3 color. It had four USB 3 ports, two Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports, SDXC, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and FaceTime HD.
Options and recreation
Apple lists up to 32 GB memory for the 3.4 GHz base; the 3.5 and 3.8 GHz bases could reach 64 GB and offer a 4.2 GHz quad-core Core i7. Storage options also depended on the base: the 2 TB SSD appears for the 3.8 GHz model, not every model. Today's technical page mentions Mojave and does not determine the June announcement's software.
