Design and performance
Apple places the LaserWriter Pro 630 in 1993. Its sheet lists a 25 MHz 68030, 8 MB RAM expandable to 32 MB and up to eight pages per minute. The original brochure identifies a Canon EX engine.
Apple distinguished 600 dpi output from 300 dpi enhanced with PhotoGrade and FinePrint. Image enhancement is not presented as a physical resolution of 1,000 dpi.
Connection and requirements
The brochure supports simultaneous Ethernet, LocalTalk, RS-232 serial and Centronics parallel connections. Internal and external SCSI ports served hard-disk font storage; they are not described as the usual Macintosh printing connection.
PostScript Level 2 and PCL emulation broadened its use beyond one environment. The photograph does not establish connected interfaces or installed memory.
Options and photograph
Standard equipment included a 100-sheet multipurpose tray and a 250-sheet cassette. The 500-sheet feeder and envelope feeder were optional, not present on every unit.
The All About Apple museum image identifies a LaserWriter Pro 630. The original file is preserved without cropping or retouching; it is not a launch photograph.
