PostScript in the Select range
Apple’s Service Source manual places the Select 310 introduction in February 1993. It uses PostScript, unlike the QuickDraw Select 300, and should not be confused with the 600 dpi Select 360. The archived technical sheet identifies PostScript Level 1. This documented date does not establish a first-sale day.
Engine, memory and connections
The Fuji Xerox P0 engine operates at 300 dpi and delivers up to 5 pages per minute; Apple notes that actual performance depends on the application. Memory starts at 1.5 MB and can expand to 5.5 MB. Connections are RS-232 and Centronics parallel: the Select 360’s AppleTalk port is not attributed to this model.
Fonts and photograph
The manual lists 13 fonts from the Courier, Helvetica, Times and Symbol families and allows more PostScript fonts to be downloaded into memory. The All About Apple photograph identifies a Select 310 and is preserved without retouching. It does not establish installed memory or working condition.
