Launch and configurations
Apple announced the Early 2009 Mac mini on March 3 and stated that it was already shipping. Both US base configurations had a 2 GHz Core 2 Duo and SuperDrive: $599 with 1 GB RAM and a 120 GB drive, or $799 with 2 GB and 320 GB. Memory was 1066 MHz DDR3 and the SATA drives ran at 5400 rpm. Changes from the previous model
Compared with the Mid 2007 Mac mini, Intel GMA 950 gives way to NVIDIA GeForce 9400M; the official RAM limit rises from 2 to 4 GB and 667 MHz DDR2 becomes 1066 MHz DDR3. Four USB 2.0 ports become five and FireWire 400 becomes FireWire 800. The single DVI connector is replaced by mini-DVI and Mini DisplayPort, with simultaneous dual-display support. The entry base moves from 1.83 to 2 GHz, 80 to 120 GB and Combo to SuperDrive; the upper base keeps 2 GHz but moves from 1 to 2 GB RAM and 120 to 320 GB storage.
Features and photograph
It includes AirPort Extreme based on draft 802.11n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, Gigabit Ethernet and analog/optical audio input and output. The technical page lists the mini-DVI to DVI adapter as included; VGA and dual-link DVI adapters are separate purchases. Leopard and iLife 09 were included. A 2.26 GHz processor and up to 4 GB RAM were options, not a third base configuration. It measures 16.51 × 16.51 × 5.08 cm.
