The personal laser printer
Apple places the Personal LaserWriter 320's introduction in 1993. Unlike the QuickDraw 300, the 320 has PostScript Level 2 and a 16 MHz AMD 29205 processor. Apple specified 300 dpi and up to four pages per minute.
The brochure consulted is dated November 1995. It supports features, not a claim that introduction occurred that year.
Memory and connection
Standard memory was 2 MB. The brochure offered optional upgrades to 4 or 8 MB requiring dealer installation. FinePrint improved text rendering and PhotoGrade enhanced images.
The connection was LocalTalk. The brochure required System 7.0 or later and recommended 4 MB RAM in the Macintosh. That host requirement does not describe the printer's RAM.
Paper and photograph
Paper handling included a manual feed tray and a 100-sheet universal cassette. It accepted different papers, envelopes, labels and suitable transparencies, rather than only ordinary sheets.
The All About Apple photograph shows Personal LaserWriter 320 on the front, but does not verify installed upgrades. The pictured unit is not assigned maximum memory or presented as a launch image.
