History and documentation
Apple announced the 15-inch PowerBook G4 on October 19, 2005. This aluminum revision stays separate from earlier revisions and the other simultaneous sizes. Processor: 1.67 GHz; family size: 15in. Initial RAM: 512 MB PC2-4200 DDR2; storage: 80 GB Ultra ATA/100 · 5400 rpm; optical drive: 8x SuperDrive · DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW; announced US price: 1999 USD. Slashes separate configurations in matching order, not a combination of maxima. Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 · 128 MB. Apple documents a maximum of 2 GB DDR2; this is not initial memory.
Design and specifications
The display moves to 1440 × 960 px. Apple announces up to one extra hour of battery life, dependent on configuration and use, not a verified absolute runtime. Memory is PC2-4200 DDR2: the release describes it as running at 333 MHz; that wording is preserved without turning it into an effective transfer rate.
Use and context
All include AirPort Extreme, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, a scrolling TrackPad and Sudden Motion Sensor. These two sizes include Dual Link for the 30-inch Cinema HD Display, a backlit keyboard with ambient sensor, Gigabit Ethernet, two USB 2.0 ports, FireWire 400/800 and analog and optical digital audio input and output.
Notes and image
Apple announces Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger and iLife 05. Apple declares immediate availability; this does not prove an individual delivery. The image is an original labelled schematic, not a photograph, scale drawing or exact regional keyboard layout.
