Launch and context
Apple announced it on September 9, 2025, opening preorders that day with availability from September 19 at $249 in the US. Tips combined foam and silicone; the new XXS expanded the set to five sizes. How Apple presented it
Apple advertised up to twice the cancellation of Pro 2, a vendor comparison under its tests. H2 remained the headphone chip. The optical PPG sensor measured heart rate during workouts with iPhone and compatible apps; it was not a standalone reading that removed every phone dependency. Apple listed up to 8 hours with cancellation and 24 with the case, or up to 6.5 hours with heart-rate sensing in its exercise test. Documented issues
The Verge observed better fit and cancellation but acknowledged its sample did not guarantee universal comfort. On two walks, heart-rate readings approached a chest strap with differences around 5-10 beats per minute: a limited observation, not clinical validation. Its Live Translation test found contextual errors. The function was announced in beta with an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone, supported software, languages and regions; it is neither universal translation nor exclusive to Pro 3.
