Launch
Introduced on December 1, 1983, weeks before the Macintosh 128K, at USD 675; it also worked with the Apple II and the Lisa. The ImageWriter II replaced it and the original was discontinued on 1 December 1985.
Marketing
It was the Macintosh launch printer: with MacWrite and MacPaint it printed exactly what was on screen (WYSIWYG), graphics included.
Flaws and fixes
Noisy like every dot-matrix and expensive for its time; its commercial life was short because the ImageWriter II (1985) was more compact and capable.
