Features and differences
Charging is through USB-C only. The control uses a force sensor, without volume swipe or a Find My case speaker. Apple claims up to 4 hours listening with cancellation and 6 with noise control off, and up to 20 including case recharges with cancellation. The case weighs 32.3 g and each earbud 4.3 g. These are July and August 2026 test results, not guarantees for every use or aged battery. Bluetooth 5.3 and laboratory IP57 for earbuds and case do not imply permanent protection or suitability for swimming. A charging cable is not listed in the box.
Design and compatibility
Both variants offer Adaptive Audio, Transparency, Conversation Awareness, Voice Isolation, Personalized Spatial Audio with head tracking, Adaptive EQ and studio-quality recording, subject to device and software requirements. Each earbud measures 30.2 × 18.3 × 18.1 mm; the case is 46.2 × 50.1 × 21.2 mm (height × width × depth). Apple says the earbuds and case of one variant are not interchangeable with the other. Five minutes in the case provides around one hour under its test conditions.
Evolution, requirements and photograph
Against generation 4, Apple announced a new multiport acoustic architecture and revised Adaptive EQ. “Up to 50 percent more noise removed” compares with AirPods 4 with ANC in Apple’s tests, not every situation. Live Translation requires compatible hardware, firmware, Apple Intelligence, language and region; Siri AI was announced in beta, without initial EU availability on iOS/iPadOS/watchOS. These are not standalone universal earbud services.
