Launch

Apple introduced it on March 21, 2016 at its "Let us loop you in" event; orders opened on March 24 and it reached stores on March 31. It debuted the True Tone display, which adjusts white balance to ambient light, and was the first iPad with a 12MP camera shooting 4K video with True Tone flash, plus a new rose gold finish. Marketing

Apple introduced it as "a new generation of iPad that is indispensable and immersive", with a display debuting True Tone and Night Shift, four speakers and an A9X chip that, in Apple's words, rivaled most portable PCs. (Apple Newsroom, 2016-03-21).
