Marketing
The all-new Health Sensing System introduces Apple's most accurate heart rate sensing in a wearable, with photodiodes in a ring-shaped arrangement and a larger ECG electrode; HRV is now measured up to 24 times more often, with its own new section in the Heart Rate app. A new ceramic version (pearl white and night blue), alongside aluminum in dark bronze, black, light gold and space gray, and titanium in radiant gold and natural. Pre-orders opened September 9, 2026, in stores September 18 (Apple Newsroom, 09-09-2026).
Flaws and fixes
Random restarts on new units, fixed by Apple with watchOS 27.0.1 (23-09-2026), per the official update notes. Skin irritation under the new sensor array: some owners report burning and redness (MacRumors, 07-10-2026); the cause is unconfirmed and Apple points to its band fit and hygiene guidance, with some units returned over this.
