What changes and who it is for
It is the third generation of the Ultra, the sports and adventure model. New over Ultra 2: built-in satellite communications (Emergency SOS, messages and location sharing without cellular coverage), the largest display ever on an Apple Watch (3,000 nits, 1 Hz always-on refresh), 5G, up to 42 hours of battery life, notifications for signs of hypertension and sleep score. Announced figures are Apple test results. Apple Newsroom
Before choosing
Satellite features depend on sky visibility and service availability per country; they do not replace a dedicated satellite communicator. The 42 hours are Apple's normal-use metric; Low Power Mode reaches 72 hours with reduced features. Hypertension notifications do not catch every case and are not a diagnosis. It is sold only in 49 mm and always with cellular connectivity. Apple · Specifications
