Launch
Apple introduced it on March 8, 2022 at the "Peek performance" event, alongside Mac Studio, and it began reaching customers on March 18, 2022. It was Apple’s first display since Pro Display XDR (2019) and its first mainstream one since the Thunderbolt Display, discontinued in 2016: an A13 Bionic chip runs the Center Stage camera and the six-speaker sound system. Marketing
Apple presented it as “the perfect complement to Mac Studio” and “in a class of its own”: according to Greg Joswiak, with its 5K Retina screen and “the best combination of camera and audio ever in a desktop display”. Flaws and fixes
