Announcement and availability
Apple announced it on March 3, 2026. Pre-orders opened March 4 and availability began March 11, 2026. Apple Newsroom, 03-03-2026
What changes and who it is for
It is the second generation of Studio Display. It keeps the 27-inch 5K 600-nit panel and updates everything around it: a 12MP Center Stage camera with improved image quality and Desk View, a six-speaker system with 30 percent deeper bass than the previous generation (per Apple) and, above all, Thunderbolt 5 with two ports, allowing daisy-chaining of up to four Studio Displays and 96W laptop charging over the included Thunderbolt 5 Pro cable. Before choosing
The panel is essentially the same as 2022: no HDR, no 120Hz and no mini-LED; that is what the Studio Display XDR adds. The height-adjustable stand and nano-texture option raise the price. It is designed for Mac; with other computers it loses features like Center Stage. Apple · Specifications
