Announcement and availability
Apple introduced it on October 30, 2018 alongside the all-screen iPad Pro. Orders began that day and it reached stores on November 7, 2018 in more than 40 countries and regions, including Spain. Apple Newsroom, 30-10-2018
What changes and who it is for
It is the second generation of Apple Pencil, three years after the first. It replaces the round design with a matte finish and a flat side that magnetically attaches to the iPad Pro edge for wireless pairing and charging, and introduces the double-tap gesture to switch tools without putting the pencil down. It keeps pressure and tilt sensitivity with pixel-perfect accuracy. Apple Newsroom
Before choosing
Wireless pairing and charging only work with iPad models that have the compatible magnetic connector; it does not charge on generic wireless chargers. Compatibility depends on the iPad model (Apple maintains the official list). It has no buttons: double-tap is performed on the flat area. At launch it only worked with the 2018 iPad Pro models.
