Announcement and availability

What changes and who it is for
It is the most advanced Apple Pencil. It adds a squeeze sensor in the barrel that brings up a tool palette without interrupting the stroke, a gyroscope that enables barrel roll to orient pen and brush tools, a custom haptic engine that confirms actions with a light tap, and Find My support, a first for Apple Pencil. It keeps pressure, tilt, hover and magnetic wireless charging on the iPad edge. Apple Newsroom
Before choosing
Compatibility is narrower than other Pencil models: it debuted with the iPad Pro (M4) of 2024 and works with iPad Air (M2) and later models; it does not work with iPad Pro models before 2024 (Apple maintains the official list).
