Announcement and availability

Apple announced it on October 13, 2026. Pre-orders opened the same day and store availability is announced for October 30, 2026, the date of this page. The announcement names the U.S. and more than 23 other countries and regions without a full list. Apple Newsroom, 13-10-2026

What changes and who it is for

It is the second generation of Apple's compact speaker, six years after the original HomePod mini from 2020. It adds the S10 chip with computational audio, 360-degree sound, a new color range, Sound Glow (the top surface lights up in sync with music) and a four-speaker surround setup with the new Apple TV 4K (4th generation). Apple also announced Siri AI, a more capable assistant, as a future software update. Apple Newsroom

Before choosing

Siri AI is not available at launch: Apple announces it as a future update, first in English (U.S., Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the UK), with no date given for other languages such as Spanish. The four-speaker surround setup requires Apple TV 4K (4th generation). Connected-home features require the Home app and compatible accessories. Apple · Specifications
