How Apple presented it
The display moved in height and angle while components stayed in the base. Digital-hub positioning combined iMovie, iTunes, iPhoto and, with SuperDrive, iDVD. Three US configurations: 800 MHz/256 MB/60 GB/SuperDrive $1799; 700 MHz/256 MB/40 GB/Combo $1499; 700 MHz/128 MB/40 GB/CD-RW $1299. Historical prices and base memory, not all-model maxima. Ethernet 10/100, 56 K modem, two FireWire and USB; the release's five USB count covers the set, rather than five connectors on the base. [imac-launch]
Documented issues
Limits: integrated 1024 × 768 display and different recording capabilities by optical drive. CD-RW and Combo drives do not burn DVDs. Pro Speakers were included on selected models, not all. No universal arm, display or power fault is established in the cited sources. The cause of a fault depends on each unit's configuration and condition and requires professional diagnosis.
