Apple presented it as the most advanced camera system in an iPhone thanks to variable aperture, with big gains in battery life and performance, all powered by the A20 Pro chip and Siri AI. Source: Apple press release, September 9, 2026.

Flaws and fixes

Apple fixed three issues in iOS 27.0.1 (September 28, 2026): unexpected restarts when Face ID fails to authenticate, a color artifact in photos taken at 2x and f/1.48 on a small number of devices, and a touchscreen that stopped responding when Notification Center and Control Center were opened at the same time. Fix: update to iOS 27.0.1 or later. Source: Apple Support, "About iOS 27 Updates". Per Apple, the first two concern the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max; the third does not name a specific model.
