Launch
Announced on 10 September 2013 alongside the iPhone 5s and on sale from 20 September at USD 99 (16 GB) and USD 199 (32 GB) on contract. It directly replaced the iPhone 5, breaking Apple's habit of keeping the previous model at a reduced price. That weekend the 5s and 5c together topped nine million, though the 5s outsold it three to one. The 16 and 32 GB models were replaced by an 8 GB one on 9 September 2014; that 8 GB was discontinued on 9 September 2015 in all markets except India, where it lasted until 17 February 2016.
Marketing
“The Most Colorful iPhone Yet”: a polycarbonate shell in blue, green, pink, yellow and white, built on the iPhone 5's foundation — 4-inch Retina display, A6 chip and 8 MP iSight camera — plus more LTE bands than any other smartphone in the world, according to Apple, and iOS 7.
Flaws and fixes
Its sales pace lagged the 5s (three to one on the first weekend). It never went past iOS 10: the last supported version was iOS 10.3.3 (July 2017).
