Over one million sold in the first weekend. The 16 and 32 GB versions were discontinued on 7 June 2010; the 8 GB lasted until 12 September 2012.
Marketing
“The fastest, most powerful iPhone yet.” Up to twice as fast as the 3G (600 MHz Cortex-A8 chip and 256 MB of RAM), a 3 MP autofocus camera and, at last, video recording, plus Voice Control and a digital compass. It debuted iPhone OS 3.0 with copy and paste, Spotlight search and MMS.
Flaws and fixes
It missed out on Siri when iOS 5 arrived, and iOS 7 never reached this model due to hardware limitations. The last supported version was iOS 6.1.6 (February 2014).
